On October 21st, Netflix announced it will be creating shows and movies based on the popular board game Catan, originally released as The Settlers of Catan in 1995. This is the first time the game will be adapted for the screen. Netflix is working with Asmodee, the company that publishes the game, to develop both scripted (like dramas and comedies) and unscripted (like reality shows) content.
The announcement highlights the main ideas behind the changes: players will explore large areas, form and break alliances, and fight over limited supplies while dealing with bandits on the island.
