Netflix Cancels Adult Animation Series After Only 10 Episodes

Netflix has canceled another adult animated series, this one set in Las Vegas. The show’s creator has publicly expressed their disappointment on Bluesky. While cancellations on the streaming service aren’t unexpected, it’s still frustrating to see Netflix continue to cancel shows, even those that appear to be doing well.

The Netflix comedy Strip Law, featuring Janelle James, Adam Scott, Keith David, and many other well-known actors, was set in Las Vegas. The show followed a serious lawyer who reluctantly partners with a questionable magician to tackle the city’s most bizarre legal cases. Despite its talented cast and creative team, Strip Law didn’t attract a large enough audience to make Netflix’s Top 10 list, and the show has been cancelled. Series creator Cullen Crawford shared the news on Bluesky, expressing gratitude for the experience and highlighting the joyful, creative spirit of everyone involved. He thanked viewers who gave the show a chance.

Everything About Strip Law Was Technically Middle of the Road—But That’s Not a Bad Thing

Most shows get canceled because they aren’t popular, but that wasn’t the reason for Strip Law. The animated series actually received positive reviews, with a 75% score from critics and 74% from viewers – numbers that usually guarantee another season. According to Variety’s Alison Herman, the show’s “fondness for vintage flair and showmanship” is captivating. Kyle Mullin noted that fans of adult cartoons and comedy will likely enjoy Strip Law‘s bold humor and fast-paced energy.

I really enjoyed Strip Law, and I wasn’t alone! It wasn’t breaking completely new ground like Archer or Bojack Horseman, but it definitely had something special that could have been explored further. One viewer put it perfectly: sometimes you just want a fun show that makes you smile, and Strip Law delivered! It wasn’t trying to be heavy or depressing, and that was refreshing. Another person compared it to Harvey Birdman, praising its fast pace, clever writing, and density of jokes – they thought it was a contender for show of the year! It’s a shame Netflix cancelled it, because it felt like there was so much unrealized potential there. I truly believe they’re missing out on something great.
