Idris, the breakout star from F1 and a long-time favorite to play James Bond, is taking on a new leading role – a spy in a political thriller series. He’s been steadily gaining recognition since his work on shows like Snowfall and Black Mirror, and recently starred alongside Brad Pitt in the hit movie F1. Now, he’s moving into a major lead role in what promises to be a thrilling new series.
The British actor is trading race tracks for a crisis in London. According to Netflix, his new series begins with a terrifying situation: the House of Lords is locked down due to a threat from within. In The Lords’ Day, the UK government has been taken hostage, turning Parliament into hostile ground.

Luckily, former spy Harry Jones, portrayed by Damson Idris, is also inside the building and seems like the ideal person to resolve the hostage situation. However, he’s also been convicted of treason, which complicates things. The series is based on a novel by Michael Dobbs, who previously saw success with the Netflix hit House of Cards. This new show blends exciting action with realistic political intrigue, and Dobbs’s own experience as a member of the House of Lords – similar to the US Senate, but with a different election process – adds to its authenticity.
Details like that aren’t the main point of The Lords’ Day, which Netflix promises will be a thrilling look inside the British government. This series will have six episodes and comes from Bad Wolf, the team behind Humans – a fantastic sci-fi show with a 94% rating that you can currently watch on Prime Video, but doesn’t get enough attention.

From the creators of shows like Spooks, Humans, and Better (Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent), and directed by Ben Chanan (The Capture, The Missing), comes a new Netflix thriller called The Lords’ Day. Netflix describes it as a fast-paced, action-packed story.
During the State Opening of Parliament, British intelligence officer Harry Jones (Damson Idris) is unexpectedly caught inside Westminster Palace when a lockdown occurs. As a hostage situation worsens, people’s allegiances are questioned and brave choices are made, leading to a dangerous battle for survival where not everyone will make it. Based on a novel by Michael Dobbs (author of House of Cards), this thrilling, fast-moving story asks if Harry can use his abilities to save the country.
Though we don’t yet know who else will star or when it will be released, The Lords’ Day seems like a great next role for Damson Idris after F1. It’s a chance for him to prove himself as an action star, and it will also give Netflix a sophisticated new spy thriller.
