Netflix viewers have a limited time left to enjoy a highly-rated family adventure film. November brought a lot of new content to the platform, including Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and the first part of Stranger Things Season 5. Netflix plans to continue adding titles in December, with options ranging from Troll 2 to Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. However, to make room for these new additions, some titles will be removed, and subscribers won’t want to miss one particular family movie before it’s gone.
The classic 1980s movie The Goonies will be removed from Netflix on December 1st. So, November 30th is your last chance to watch it on the streaming service. Directed by Richard Donner and written by Chris Columbus (based on a story by Steven Spielberg), the film follows a group of kids – including Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Ke Huy Quan – in Astoria, Oregon. They embark on a thrilling treasure hunt after finding an old pirate map, hoping to save their homes from being taken away.
The Goonies Is a Cult Classic, and There’s a Sequel on the Way
It’s been 40 years since The Goonies first delighted audiences and became a huge hit! The film is now a beloved classic, known as a wonderful story about growing up, friendship, and adventure. Made on a budget of $19 million, it earned $69 million worldwide and was a critical and popular success – it still boasts high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, with 77% from critics and an impressive 91% from viewers. With a touch of classic Spielberg magic, The Goonies perfectly captures the feeling of childhood, offering a thrilling, funny, and unforgettable treasure hunt that continues to entertain fans of all ages.
The classic 80s adventure film The Goonies is finally getting a sequel! Warner Bros. has been working on a new movie for the past few months, and confirmed in April that it’s officially in development. While details about the story and who will star are still under wraps, writer Potsy Ponciroli is on board, and Steven Spielberg, Chris Columbus, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Holly Bario, and Lauren Shuler Donner are expected to produce. Ke Huy Quan recently shared with ComicBook that a second draft of the script has been submitted and received positive feedback.
Where to Stream The Goonies After It Leaves Netflix?
The popular movie The Goonies will soon be leaving Netflix, but don’t worry – you’ll still be able to watch it! Starting December 1st, it will be available on HBO Max instead. You can also rent or purchase the movie from various online platforms.
