It’s always a bummer when a show or movie disappears from streaming. It really hits home that we don’t actually own the content we love, and it’s totally up to the streaming services whether we can keep watching it. And now, with Netflix removing one of their originals, I’m worried I might never be able to stream it again – it’s frustrating not knowing!
Fans are disappointed to learn that She-Ra and the Princesses of Power will be removed from Netflix on February 21, 2026. Creator ND Stevenson explained that this is happening because the show’s licensing agreement with Netflix is ending, a situation that has affected other Dreamworks series as well. Stevenson noted that showrunners have no say in these decisions, and it’s frustrating to see years of work lose a platform. While some longtime fans of the original 1985 series have criticized the reboot for deviating from the source material, the show has gained a new following. If you haven’t yet watched this updated version of Adora’s story, now is the time, before it’s no longer available on Netflix.

Critics and audiences alike are loving the series, giving it a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 84% audience score – a remarkable achievement. Ash Jefferson from But Why Tho? described the first season as the show they wished they’d had as a child, praising its exciting action, heartfelt moments, and overall enjoyment. Samantha Puc of The Beat highlighted the show’s strong team of inspiring heroes, genuine heroism, and beautifully crafted presentation.
Stevenson hopes She-Ra will eventually be available on DVD, but worries that, like many LGBTQ+ shows, it might disappear from access. She urges fans to watch it while it’s available and to preserve any records of it, as they are now responsible for ensuring its lasting impact.
She-Ra is a compelling story that both newcomers and longtime fans will appreciate, and it really deserves a wide audience. Hopefully, a DVD release will happen soon!
