Netflix is about to lose another popular show, this time a series starring Bryan Cranston. Many viewers initially compared it to Breaking Bad because of its similar storyline and Cranston’s portrayal of a character who, like Walter White, starts out as a good man pushed to his limits. Although the show received mixed reviews and Cranston wasn’t sure about continuing it for many seasons, it recently gained a new audience after being added to Netflix years after its original run.
The series Your Honor, featuring Bryan Cranston, Hope Davis, and Isiah Whitlock Jr., tells the story of a judge forced to confront his own ethics when his son is involved in a hit-and-run. This incident brings a dangerous crime family seeking revenge into the light. Viewers were divided: some found the show intensely captivating, while others felt it was overly preachy and bleak. Despite a strong performance from Cranston, critics ultimately gave the series a lukewarm 49% rating.
Your Honor Isn’t Sure What It Wants To Be
The show feels heavily inspired by hits like Breaking Bad, using a similar story of a decent man transformed into someone almost completely different. While Bryan Cranston delivers a strong performance, the storyline doesn’t quite live up to expectations, feeling disjointed and ultimately unsatisfying for both viewers and the characters. As BBC critic Scott Bryan put it, many dark dramas offer some kind of reward or are incredibly gripping, but this show lacked both those qualities.
Despite the mixed reactions, many fans are hoping for another season of Your Honor. A recent Reddit post discussing the possibility of a third season gained traction, with one commenter pointing out the show’s recent surge in popularity after being added to Netflix. They noted that Season 2 seems to be receiving more positive feedback now, and suggested Netflix might be interested in continuing the series and bringing Bryan Cranston back on board.
