As a movie enthusiast, I’m right smack in the heart of summer, and it seems like the blockbuster era is reaching its peak at the cinemas. The sequel to Jurassic World, titled “Jurassic World Rebirth”, has been steadily gaining momentum, Superman’s latest adventure left everyone spellbound during its premiere weekend, and The Fantastic Four: First Step is gearing up for release. It’s the time of year when we get to witness the grand tentpole movies, and it’s fitting that the original blockbuster franchise has found a new home on Netflix.
50 years ago, in 1975, Steven Spielberg introduced what is now known as the first summer blockbuster with the release of Jaws. Today, this iconic film has found a new home on Netflix, becoming available for subscribers early Tuesday morning. This means that viewers can enjoy a classic summer movie right in the heart of July.
Not only does the thrill get amplified, but along with Jaws, the original film’s three sequels have also found their way onto Netflix. Although they can’t compare to Spielberg’s masterpiece, for shark-loving movie enthusiasts, it offers a chance to enjoy a series of four captivating underwater adventures.
Starting today, you can stream all installments of the Jaws series – including Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3, and Jaws: The Revenge – on Netflix. For the past month, they were exclusively available on Peacock, but now they’ve moved to Netflix for a limited time as part of an exclusivity agreement.
New on Netflix in July
On Tuesday morning, a fearsome foursome of shark-themed shows debuted on Netflix, following two consecutive weeks of substantial content additions. In recent times, this streaming platform has boosted its library with notable titles such as “Mad Max: Fury Road” and the entirety of “Sullivan’s Crossing,” but it was the beginning of July that saw an influx of the most fresh content to their collection.
In early July, Netflix significantly expanded its streaming library by adding numerous movies and series. Among these new additions were popular titles such as “Captain Phillips,” “Mission: Impossible,” “The Karate Kid,” and the second season of “Yellowjackets.
