While Dwayne Johnson is getting attention for his dramatic role in the new film The Smashing Machine, fans can also enjoy one of his older, popular action movies on Netflix – but not for much longer! Netflix is regularly updating its selection, and this thrilling disaster film will soon be leaving the streaming service.
The disaster movie San Andreas will be leaving Netflix on November 22nd, just two months after it started streaming. The film, directed by Brad Peyton and written by Carlton Cuse, stars Dwayne Johnson as a helicopter rescue pilot. He and his estranged wife must brave a dangerous journey to save their daughter after a massive 9.0 earthquake destroys Los Angeles due to the San Andreas fault line. The cast also includes Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd, Archie Panjabi, and Paul Giamatti.
San Andreas Is a Heart-Pounding Disaster Movie That Doesn’t Disappoint
When San Andreas came out, reviews were mixed, and it currently has fairly low scores on Rotten Tomatoes (48% from critics and 52% from audiences). However, many people find it much more enjoyable than those numbers suggest. Today, it’s often considered one of the best disaster movies, alongside films like Deepwater Horizon and Twister, and is praised for its thrilling action and as a showcase of Dwayne Johnson’s skills as an action hero.
San Andreas is a classic disaster movie that immediately grabs your attention with its thrilling action. The special effects are still impressive and make the large-scale destruction feel incredibly real, and Dwayne Johnson delivers a powerful and energetic performance, handling the stunts with ease. But what truly makes the film stand out is how it combines the spectacular visuals with a heartfelt story about family. At its core, it’s about a family’s struggle to survive and find each other after a devastating earthquake, and the actors do a great job of bringing those emotional stakes to life.
Despite initially receiving negative reviews, San Andreas became a big box office hit and has become more popular over time. It recently proved this by reaching the number one spot on Netflix’s top 10 list after becoming available on the streaming service in September.
Where to Stream San Andreas After It Leaves HBO Max?
If you’re a fan of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, don’t wait to stream San Andreas on Netflix – it leaves the platform on November 22nd and won’t be available for streaming anywhere else after that. Currently, the only way to watch it will be to rent or buy it from services like Prime Video or Fandango. While it doesn’t look like San Andreas will be added to another streaming service this month, there’s a chance it could appear on a different platform in December.
