Netflix will soon lose a popular live-action anime series that has been streaming for eight years, leaving its future uncertain. While Netflix has successfully adapted many anime and manga into live-action shows – with series like One Piece becoming major hits – not all of these adaptations perform well. Some simply don’t gain enough traction and are eventually removed from the platform.
Netflix has announced that the live-action Mob Psycho 100 series will be removed from its streaming service on May 21st. It’s unclear what this means for the show’s future, especially since Netflix originally had exclusive rights to it when it was very popular in 2018. If it’s taken off Netflix, it’s likely the series won’t be available to stream anywhere else.
What Is Mob Psycho 100’s Live-Action Series?

The live-action Mob Psycho 100 series has 12 episodes and covers roughly the same story as the first season of the animated series. Like the original manga by ONE, the show stars Tatsuomi Hamada as Mob, a seemingly ordinary person who is actually a very powerful psychic. He keeps his emotions bottled up, which causes his powers to erupt in huge displays. The series was initially well-received when it came out in 2018, but it wasn’t continued after the first season.
The live-action version of Mob Psycho 100 wasn’t popular enough in Japan to get a second season, so it will probably be removed from Netflix and become unavailable. Although the anime is still available on other streaming services, the live-action series will become a bit of a footnote in the franchise’s history. With its removal happening in May, now is a great time to revisit it if you haven’t already.
What’s New for Live-Action Anime on Netflix?

Netflix is now a major player in bringing anime and manga to life with live-action adaptations. Over the past few years, they’ve been investing heavily in TV series and films based on popular franchises like One Piece, Solo Leveling, and Mobile Suit Gundam, with many more projects currently in the works. It doesn’t look like this trend will stop any time soon, as these adaptations are becoming increasingly ambitious and large-scale.
Live-action anime and manga adaptations are becoming increasingly popular, but some shows, like Mob Psycho 100, haven’t gotten the attention they deserve. With fans now more open to these types of adaptations, there’s a greater possibility that shows like it will find an audience in the future.
