Netflix Users Are Running Out Of Time To Watch These 8 Comic Book Movies That All Leave This Month

December is almost over, which means Netflix is preparing to remove some movies and shows from its streaming service. Many comic book-based titles will be leaving in January, so if you’re a fan, make sure to watch them before the end of the month!

Superhero movies are incredibly popular, especially those from Marvel (MCU) and DC (DCU). These franchises release films in theaters, and most of them end up on streaming services like Disney+ (for Marvel) and HBO Max (for DC). But a growing number of superhero films are also available on Netflix, though eight titles will be leaving the platform by the end of 2025.

8) Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom

Despite being a Warner Bros. film, you can now watch 2023’s Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom on Netflix. This sequel to Aquaman is the last movie in the original DC cinematic universe, and it follows the superhero as he battles Black Manta once again to protect his kingdom.

While not as well-received as the first Aquaman movie, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom provides a satisfying conclusion to the DCEU. It’s a must-see for DC Comics fans, offering a unique look at the transition to James Gunn’s new DC Universe.

7) Blue Beetle

Both Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Blue Beetle are being removed from Netflix. Blue Beetle, released in 2023, tells the story of Jaime Reyes, who unexpectedly gains a powerful suit of armor after finding an advanced alien artifact called a Scarab.

Despite being one of the better-received films in the DC Extended Universe, Blue Beetle didn’t find a large audience because it was released near the end of that cinematic universe. With plans already underway for a new DC Universe, many viewers weren’t interested in getting to know a new superhero. However, Blue Beetle remains a strong and enjoyable DC Comics movie that works well on its own.

6) Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

While DC content is popular on Netflix, it’s not the only superhero content available. For example, you can also find Marvel movies like Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. In this film, Johnny Blaze embarks on a dangerous quest to protect a young boy from Satan, battling the devil himself to save the boy’s soul.

Although Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was released around the time the MCU became popular, which may have affected how well it did. While critics didn’t love it, the film is still enjoyable, particularly for fans of Ghost Rider or Nicolas Cage. If you’re looking for a fun watch, it’s worth checking out on Netflix before it’s gone.

5) R.I.P.D. Rest in Peace Department

Despite being widely considered a terrible movie, 2013’s R.I.P.D. is strangely entertaining. Starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, the film follows two officers in a special department that tracks down ghosts pretending to be humans. With a dismal 13

4) The Mask

Jim Carrey’s 1994 film, The Mask, is a classic and well worth watching on Netflix if you haven’t seen it. The story centers around Stanley Ipkiss, played by Carrey, who discovers a magical mask inhabited by the spirit of Loki, transforming him into a superhero. Though it’s a much more comedic take than the original comic book, it’s still a really fun movie.

3) Kick-Ass 2

If you enjoyed the first Kick-Ass movie, the sequel, Kick-Ass 2 (from 2013), is available on Netflix until the end of the month and worth watching. Though it didn’t receive as many positive reviews as the original, it’s still an entertaining film, and Jim Carrey’s performance adds a new energy. The sequel also expands the Kick-Ass universe by introducing a variety of new superheroes.

2) Hulk

Ang Lee’s 2003 film, Hulk, is available on Netflix and is worth watching for most people. It’s a comic book adaptation that some fans enjoy for its over-the-top style and visual flair, while others find it disappointing due to its less-than-stellar special effects and differences from the original comics.

The 2003 film Hulk is quite different from The Incredible Hulk and later Hulk movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, it’s worth watching, especially if you’re a fan of director Ang Lee, as it’s a unique take on a comic book story from a celebrated filmmaker.

1) Cowboys & Aliens

Despite being a frequent target of jokes, now’s a great time to give the 2011 film Cowboys & Aliens a watch. Directed by Jon Favreau, the movie features a Western town battling alien invaders, though it differs significantly from the original graphic novel. It might not appeal to everyone, but those who are curious should definitely check it out – it boasts a fantastic cast!
