Sandra Bullock is a hugely successful and admired actress, known for films like the thriller Gravity and the beloved Practical Magic. However, even stars with impressive careers have projects that don’t quite hit the mark. In 2007, she appeared in a little-known horror film that received negative reviews and has largely been forgotten. Now, that movie is being removed from Netflix as the streaming service makes room for new content in 2026.
Netflix subscribers have until December 31st to watch Premonition, a thrilling psychological movie starring Sandra Bullock. The film follows a woman who experiences time shifts as she tries to prevent her husband’s death. It also features Julian McMahon, Nia Long, and other talented actors. Premonition has been available on Netflix since the fall, but it will be removed on January 1st.
Premonition Is a Critical Flop-Turned-Streaming Hit
The film Premonition isn’t widely remembered, especially because it came out the same year as huge box office successes like Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as well as other popular Sandra Bullock movies. A major reason for this is that it didn’t perform well financially or with critics. While it made $84 million worldwide on a $20 million budget – a moderate success – it received very poor reviews, earning only an 8% score from critics and a 50% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Recently, the movie has gained a lot more fans and become very popular on streaming services. In 2025, it even ranked among the top 10 most-watched films on both Hulu and Netflix, leading many to wonder if it’s actually a good movie that was overlooked, rather than a truly bad one.
I have to admit, Premonition isn’t Sandra Bullock’s greatest film, and it’s definitely not a cinematic masterpiece. It does have a few plot issues and tries to do a lot, but honestly, I found it really entertaining. What I loved was its clever story – it reminded me of Groundhog Day mixed with Memento – and the intriguing mystery kept me hooked. Bullock is fantastic as a woman clearly struggling, and the movie does an amazing job building tension with its creepy visuals and music. It’s probably not a hidden treasure, but I think it’s way better than critics give it credit for – that 8% score just doesn’t seem right!
Where to Stream Premonition After It Leaves Netflix?
As a big Sandra Bullock fan, I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up: if you’re hoping to watch Premonition, you should do it soon! It’s leaving Netflix on January 1st, and honestly, it doesn’t look like it’ll be available on any other major streaming services after that. I’ve checked the January announcements from most platforms, and it’s not listed anywhere. While there’s always a tiny chance it could pop up unexpectedly later, it seems like it’s going to be tough to stream for a while. Luckily, if you really want to see it, you can still rent or buy it digitally.
