Netflix is continuing the live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender with new episodes, and recently shared an important production update. The show has been very popular on Netflix since its release and was quickly renewed for two more seasons. Production on these new seasons began soon after to stay on schedule.
After the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered, Netflix immediately began filming both the second and third seasons. This is to ensure the young actors still fit their roles, as the show covers a relatively short time period. Netflix has been moving quickly with production, and the official Avatar: The Last Airbender account has now confirmed that filming for the third season is complete. You can see a celebratory photo of the cast below.
Netflix Wraps on Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3
Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out – it looks absolutely amazing! We’ve officially finished filming the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I’m thrilled to share that we’re already gearing up for some really exciting news about Season 2 very soon!

Now that filming for the next episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix is finished, a release date is getting closer. However, as of today, Netflix hasn’t announced when the new seasons will be available. We can also expect more news about the second season soon, including first looks and promotional content, potentially even updates from the actors.
The live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender will closely follow the storyline of the original animated series. Like its predecessor, it’s planned to have three seasons, each focusing on a different bending style: Earthbending in season two and Firebending in season three. The series will follow Aang as he learns to master all four elements, ultimately leading to a confrontation with Fire Lord Ozai. Because the events are expected to unfold over a relatively short period, the seasons could arrive as early as 2026 or 2027.
