Netflix’s Big-Budget Fantasy Adaptation ‘One Piece’ Gets “Massive” in Look at Season 2

As a huge fan of the series, I was thrilled to hear that Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece is officially coming out on March 10, 2026! And the news doesn’t stop there. For those who don’t know, One Piece isn’t just a popular manga—it’s the best-selling comic ever, so adapting it is a massive undertaking. Luckily, from what Netflix and Tomorrow Studios have shown in their latest video, they seem completely dedicated to doing the story justice and bringing Eiichiro Oda’s incredible world and characters to life in a way that feels true to the source material.

A new two-minute video offers a sneak peek at what’s coming in season 2 of One Piece, with the cast and crew hinting at exciting adventures for the Straw Hat crew. The video includes fresh footage and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the series’ production, highlighting its detailed design. While the show utilizes CGI, it also boasts impressive practical effects and sets that capture the feel of the original manga.

The latest preview of One Piece Season 2 showcases not only stunning sets and detailed world-building, but also introduces two key characters: Navy Captain Smoker, played by Callum Kerr, and the mysterious Ms. All Sunday, played by Lera Abova. Both play significant roles in the overall One Piece story, making their debut in the live-action series particularly important. As both characters possess devil fruit powers, viewers can anticipate exciting visual effects – a blend of practical and computer-generated imagery – to bring those powers to life.

Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Season 2 is an Ambitious and Exciting Production

This behind-the-scenes look shows the team making the series clearly values Eiichiro Oda’s original manga and the story he’s created. With over 1100 anime episodes and 1165 manga chapters, Oda has built an incredibly detailed world – something few modern anime and manga can match. It’s great to see that same level of commitment in this live-action adaptation. While it’s not yet clear how much of the full story Netflix plans to cover, the show has already been renewed for a third season, which will cover the Alabasta arc.

Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece will launch in March. While we don’t have a date for Season 3 yet, one of the actors hinted that filming will start shortly. Judging by the incredible sets and design shown in a recent video, Season 3 promises to vividly recreate the Alabasta arc and faithfully adapt the story from creator Eiichiro Oda. Beyond Season 3, the possibilities for the show seem endless.
