Netflix’s Latest Cartoon Network Pick-Up Remains Controversial

It’s common for shows that start on one streaming service to move to others, and Cartoon Network‘s animated series are no exception. Many favorites, like Scooby-Doo and Justice League, have left HBO Max and are now available on Netflix, Hulu, Tubi, and other platforms. Tubi, in particular, saw a boost in popularity with the addition of Looney Tunes. Now, in an unexpected move, one of Cartoon Network’s more talked-about shows has gone from Max to Netflix.

Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans Go has often divided viewers, with many feeling it doesn’t compare to the original Teen Titans show. However, despite the criticism, the series isn’t disappearing from streaming. Currently, the first five seasons are on Netflix, while the latest two seasons are available on Max. If you want to watch everything, Hulu has all the episodes. This split across platforms means you’ll need to keep track of where each season is located. Recently, Warner Bros. has faced some issues regarding the Teen Titans franchise.

The Controversy of The Titans

Many fans are eager for a revival of the original Teen Titans series, but Teen Titans Go! has recently been in the news due to what happened with voice actor Greg Cipes. Cipes, who has voiced Beast Boy for years, was reportedly let go by Warner Bros., leaving the future of the character uncertain. Last year, Cipes publicly shared his reaction, and he was very open about his disappointment.

Greg Cipes was shocked to be let go, especially since season nine, which he was a part of, had led to the show being renewed for a tenth season. He believed he would continue voicing Beast Boy on Teen Titans Go, as he had for over 400 episodes. He felt healthy thanks to ongoing Parkinson’s treatments and was prepared to keep working, so the firing – and being asked to audition for a role he’d played for 23 years – came as a complete surprise.

Even with all the talk and debate around it, it looks like Teen Titans Go! is sticking around for a while. They just announced a tenth season last year! We’re expecting the new episodes to start showing up on Cartoon Network this summer, and they’ll almost certainly be available on HBO Max and Hulu. Whether or not Netflix will get them too, though, is still up in the air.
