Netflix’s Little House On The Prairie Remake Casts Iconic Season 2 Villain Ahead Of Series Premiere

Before it even begins, the second season of Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie has cast an actor to play one of the show’s most memorable mischievous characters.

Netflix is bringing back Little House on the Prairie, based on the popular books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and the well-known TV show from 1974-1983. The reboot premieres on July 9th, and Netflix is clearly confident it will be a hit – they’ve already ordered a second season, even before anyone has seen the first episode! This renewal happened back in March.

Netflix’s upcoming season of Little House on the Prairie has added Willa Dunn, known for her role in Only Murders in the Building, to the cast. She’ll be playing the memorable character Nellie Oleson. According to Deadline, Dunn will be a regular cast member alongside Alice Halsey, who stars as Laura Ingalls in the reboot.

The new version of the show seems to be offering a more complex take on Nellie, portraying her as someone who initially comes across as a spoiled and cruel bully. While she’s presented as intelligent, self-assured, and quick-witted, the character description reveals she’s also sensitive and secretly desires genuine friendship, even though she doesn’t know how to achieve it. Essentially, beneath her mean exterior lies a vulnerability and longing for connection.

Alison Arngrim originally played Nellie Oleson, first appearing in season one and continuing as a regular character for the show’s first seven seasons. She later made a guest appearance in the ninth and final season.

Willa Dunn is an actress who’s become well-known for playing Little Loretta in the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building – the younger version of Meryl Streep’s character. She also had a role in the Prime Video series The Runarounds, where she played the daughter of Brooklyn Decker’s character throughout all eight episodes.

She’s also acted in the film Coup!, had guest appearances on Peacock’s Poker Face, and played Amy Schumer’s daughter on Inside Amy Schumer. Recently, she was in the NBC pilot Key Witness and appeared in a FIFA campaign with soccer star Mia Hamm.

Alongside Alice Halsey playing Laura Ingalls, Willa Dunn is joining the cast of the series. Luke Bracey will play Charles Ingalls, with Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls, Jocko Sims as Dr. George Tann, Warren Christie as John Edwards, Wren Zhawenim Gotts as Good Eagle, Meegwun Fairbrother as Mitchell, and Alyssa Wapanatahk as White Sun.

Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie is a show that combines heartwarming family moments with the challenges of surviving in the American West. It also tells the story of how the frontier was settled, showing both the difficulties and successes of the people who built it.
