Netflix has started to change people’s opinions about live-action anime thanks to hits like One Piece, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Yu Yu Hakusho. While adaptations of Dragon Ball and Cowboy Bebop weren’t as well-received, these successful shows have encouraged Netflix to continue making live-action versions of anime and manga. Now, it looks like they’re expanding to include WEBToons, with one of their exclusive anime series getting its own live-action adaptation – so fans should prepare for more!
Like many popular WEBToons, including Solo Leveling, The God of High School, and Tower of God, Viral Hit is getting an anime adaptation. Originally created by Taejun Pak and Kim Junhyun, the series ran from 2019 to 2024 and is now becoming a live-action show on Netflix, premiering June 11th. Netflix recently shared a trailer and description, highlighting that the webtoon has over 2.2 billion views worldwide and tells the story of a bullied student who finds redemption through fighting. It’s Time To Hit The Live-Action World

The first season of the Viral Hit anime gained popularity on Netflix, but the studio Okuruto Noburu hasn’t announced whether a second season is planned. Although the original story concluded in its WEBToon format, there’s still enough content to adapt for another season. It’s currently unknown how much of the story the upcoming live-action series will cover, but the cast announcement could hint at which characters will make an appearance.
The series will star Oji Suzuka as Kota Shimura and Meru Nukumi as Kaho Asamiya. Noritaka Hamao will play the talented martial artist Tatsuya Ogi, and Kentaro Maeda will be his rival, Reo Shinjo. Yusuke Iseya is cast as promoter Yugo Kuwata, and Nana Asakawa will portray the popular influencer Rumi. While the show will feature fights, they’ll be more realistic and less destructive than those seen in anime like Dragon Ball and Jujutsu Kaisen, where entire cities or planets are often demolished. Viral Hit is one of several anime, including My Hero Academia, Naruto, and Mobile Suit Gundam, currently being adapted into live-action, marking an exciting and unique moment for the anime world.
