A month after its release, the excitement around Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece Season 2 is still going strong. The new season, which premiered on March 10th, 2026, follows the Straw Hat Pirates as they navigate the dangerous Grand Line, encountering both friends and foes. Like the first season, this installment takes some liberties with the original manga but stays true to the heart of the story. Season 2 ends with a major cliffhanger: the crew gains a new member and sets course for Alabasta, leaving fans eager for more. It quickly became a global success.
After the huge popularity of the recent season, Netflix launched a six-part podcast on March 13, 2026. The podcast includes the show’s actors and creator Eiichiro Oda, who share stories about making the series, hidden details, and other behind-the-scenes content. While fans are eager for season three, producers Becky Clements and Joe Trancz told IGN that the show will have at least eight seasons.
One Piece‘s Live-Action Needs Multiple Seasons to Adapt The Story

When asked about the possibility of reaching sixteen seasons, Clements said he’s very optimistic, though that’s his most ambitious hope. He believes they’ve already surpassed the typical challenges of getting to season eight, and they can reassess their goals from there.
He also notes that Trancz has a more practical vision for the series’ continuation. Clements explains they both agree on around 8 to 10 installments, clarifying that his own idea of 16 was simply his personal desire to explore every possibility.
Trancz also expressed hope for the show’s continuation, explaining that the team is invested in the characters and world they’ve created. They don’t want to end the story before they’ve had a chance to explore the ideas and storylines they’ve established.
I’ve been following One Piece for a long time, and it’s incredible how long it’s gone on – the manga is over 1100 chapters now, and the story is still unfolding! The recent live-action adaptation is good, but it’s had to cut down quite a bit. While fans might dream of 16 or 20 seasons to cover everything, that’s probably not going to happen. From what I understand, the creators are aiming to adapt as much of the story as they can within eight to ten seasons, which seems more realistic.
Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Season 3 Will Be Out in 2027

Season three is confirmed to premiere in 2027, with a specific release date coming in a few months. This season will see the crew arrive in Alabasta, where they’ll confront one of the powerful Seven Warlords of the Sea. Following the Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island storylines in season two, season three will fully explore the Alabasta Arc, a crucial moment in the overall story. Expect a much more thrilling and action-packed season than what you’ve seen so far.
The season ends with a dramatic cliffhanger: Crocodile, a powerful member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, is plotting his next move as the Straw Hat Pirates head to Alabasta. To protect Vivi’s kingdom, the crew will confront their toughest opponent yet. The new season will also introduce more of Crocodile’s organization, Baroque Works, and explain his motives – including why he needs Nico Robin’s help. The full scope of his plans and a significant secret hidden within Alabasta will be uncovered in the coming episodes.
