I’m so excited about the future of the One Piece live-action series on Netflix! The showrunner just hinted that Season 3 could arrive sooner than we think. With Season 2 being such a hit for the streaming service – and already having been greenlit before Season 2 even dropped – they’ve been working on the next installment for a while now. But apparently, production is really moving along, which is fantastic news for all of us fans!
Production on One Piece Season 3 began even before Season 2 launched, and co-showrunner Joe Tracz recently told The Hollywood Reporter that they’ve mostly finished casting and are two months into filming. Because they’re already so far along, this season is expected to be released much faster than the previous ones, meaning fans likely won’t have to wait as long to see it.
When Does One Piece Season 3 Come Out on Netflix?
It’s currently unknown when the third season of the One Piece live-action series will be released on Netflix. While there was a three-season wait between seasons one and two, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delayed production. However, because work on season three started earlier, a release as early as 2027 or 2028 is possible if everything goes according to plan. The creators are eager to release the new episodes as quickly as possible.
Emily Rudd, who plays Nami, recently explained that production was temporarily halted due to the strikes, but the cast and crew are eager to get back to work on the show. She shared that everyone enjoys making it, and they believe fans are excited for more. While a lot of the work is done practically on set, there’s still a significant amount of post-production needed. The team is committed to finishing and releasing new episodes as quickly as possible.
What to Know for One Piece Season 3

Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for Season 3 of its live-action One Piece series yet, but the creator, Eiichiro Oda, has confirmed they’re finishing the story arc that started in Season 2 – the Alabasta saga. The show is also adding new actors to play characters from the villainous Baroque Works organization, who Luffy and his crew will be fighting.
Season 3 of One Piece is adding some new faces to the cast: Xolo Maridueña will play Portgas D. Ace, Cole Escola is Bon Clay, Awdo Awdo will be Mr. 1, and Daisy Head joins as Miss Doublefinger. Several actors who appeared in Season 2 will have larger roles in the upcoming episodes, including Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, Charithra Chandran as Princess Vivi, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefartari Cobra, Lera Abova as Nico Robin, and Joe Manganiello as Sir Crocodile.
