Get ready to catch ’em all! Netflix is bringing Pokémon back to your screens. The beloved franchise, which has been popular for over thirty years across video games, trading cards, and more, continues to be a huge hit worldwide. Now, you can stream new episodes of the surprisingly good Pokémon animated series on Netflix – and it’s happening at the perfect time!
As a longtime Pokémon fan, I’m thrilled to see the franchise hitting its 30th anniversary with even more episodes! The second part of Season 3, Pokémon Horizons: Rising Hope, dropped on Netflix on March 20th, and it’s really exciting to follow a new story. This season moves away from Ash and Pikachu and introduces us to Liko and Roy, who are traveling with their Pokémon partners, Sprigatito and Fuecoco. The new episodes pick up right after their adventure in Laqua, and they’re now dealing with the fallout while also trying to figure out this strange pink mist that’s impacting Pokémon. Plus, they’re facing off against a new group called the Explorers, which adds a whole new layer of challenge to their journey!
Pokémon Horizons Expands the Franchise Beyond the 27-Season Story of Ash Ketchum
After 26 years, Ash Ketchum’s departure from the Pokémon anime in early 2023, following his victory as world champion, left a significant gap for many fans. While his run ended an era, questions arose about the future of the series. Pokémon Horizons, the next generation of the anime, successfully proved the franchise could move beyond Ash and continue to thrive. This new direction was essential for Pokémon, allowing for new stories and characters to offer a fresh perspective on the Pokémon world.
I’m really enjoying Pokémon Horizons! Even though it doesn’t have a score on Rotten Tomatoes, I think longtime fans like me will absolutely love it. It’s different from the older series – instead of just catching Pokémon each week and battling gym leaders, it tells one big, ongoing story. This lets the characters and their Pokémon actually develop and the world feels much richer. Don’t worry, though, there are still plenty of exciting battles! They’re really well done, focusing on strategy and using each Pokémon’s unique abilities. Plus, the villains are great, the adventures are fun, and the animation style is really fresh and modern.
What’s New on Netflix?
Netflix has added more shows and movies for families this March! The latest releases include Season 3 of Pokémon Horizons: Rising Hope Part 2, along with new seasons of Gabby’s Dollhouse (Season 13) and Sesame Street (Volume 2), and the first chapter of Unicorn Academy Secrets Revealed. Plus, families can now enjoy titles like Clifford the Big Red Dog, The Lego Movie, and Matilda.
