It’s common for a popular TV show to succeed when it returns for another season, as viewers are usually excited to see what happens next. However, Netflix is discovering that popularity doesn’t always equal positive reactions. Their comedy series, Nobody Wants This, launched its second season last week and, despite topping the charts, is receiving a lot of mixed reviews from fans.
Okay, so Nobody Wants This is back for a second season on Netflix, and as someone who enjoyed the first batch of episodes, I was curious to see what happened next with Noah and Joanne. For those who need a refresher, she’s an agnostic and he’s a rabbi, and a big part of their story revolves around whether she’ll embrace his faith. Season one was a real hit, critics and viewers alike loved it. But honestly? Season two isn’t quite hitting the same notes. It’s still at the top of the charts, but the reviews are much quieter, and I’m hearing from friends that fewer people are actually watching. The biggest indicator, though, is how the audience is feeling about it – and it seems like the spark from season one is missing.
Fans Aren’t Sure They Want Nobody Wants This Season 2

The second season of Nobody Wants This hasn’t been as well-received as the first. While the first season earned an 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the current season has dropped to a disappointing 59%. Although some viewers enjoyed it, most agreed it wasn’t as strong as Season 1, and many others were quite critical.
Honestly, a lot of us are pretty disappointed with Season 2. It feels like they just retread the same ground as Season 1, but not nearly as well. So many viewers, myself included, feel like the characters didn’t really grow or change, and the whole season felt disjointed and rushed. It’s frustrating because it seems like the show, Nobody Wants This, has lost its way a bit. Plus, I think a lot of us are bothered by how Joanne and Noah have both become…well, kind of unlikeable. Across the board, the biggest takeaway from the criticism is that everyone seems to agree: Season 1 was just much stronger.
Will Nobody Wants This Get a Third Season?
As a big fan of Nobody Wants This, I’m really hoping we get a third season, but it’s honestly up in the air right now. The second season ended on a note that definitely leaves room for more story, but ratings dropped a bit, and it seemed like not everyone loved Season 2 as much as the first. That said, things get confusing because Netflix UK briefly listed a Season 3, then took it down. Plus, Hannah Bell, who writes and stars in the show, hinted that they’ve already started working on scripts! She also stressed it wasn’t a definite thing, though. It’s good to know critics still seem to like it – it’s currently at 77% on Rotten Tomatoes – but ultimately, whether Noah and Joanne’s story continues is still a big question mark.
Now that season two of Nobody Wants This is available, Netflix is likely holding off on announcing whether the show will continue. So, fans and reviewers will have to be patient to learn what happens with Noah and Joanne.
Nobody Wants This is now streaming on Netflix.
