New Assassin’s Creed Game Reportedly May Connect to Assassin’s Creed 2

The next Assassin’s Creed game might connect directly to the story of Assassin’s Creed 2, which many fans still consider a highlight of the series. Released in 2009, Assassin’s Creed 2 is famous for its main character, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who is arguably the most well-known figure in the entire Assassin’s Creed franchise. Although Ezio’s story seemed to end with Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, rumors suggest he could reappear in a future game.

During the recent Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, well-known video game journalist Tom Henderson revealed some new information about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe. The game, which was first announced years ago along with Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, is set during the European witch trials, but details have been scarce. Henderson reports that Ezio Auditore da Firenze is expected to appear around the midpoint of Hexe and will train the game’s protagonist – believed to be a female assassin – in the ways of the brotherhood.

According to Henderson, the team originally intended to include this feature in Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, but he doesn’t know if it will ultimately be part of the final game. If it is, it would mark the first significant appearance of Ezio in the series for almost two decades.

When Will This New Assassin’s Creed Game Release?

If Ezio is indeed going to be in the new Assassin’s Creed game, Codename Hexe, it will likely be a while before we get official confirmation. Current estimates suggest the game won’t be released until around the 2027 holiday season – over a year from now. Hopefully, we’ll get some news about the game – maybe even its real title – in the coming months, instead of just hearing it referred to as Hexe.

A remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is still in development and likely to be released in the near future. While it was originally expected to be revealed earlier, Ubisoft recently delayed the announcement slightly.
