Epic Games Store is currently offering a free game that’s remarkably new – it was released just last year, in 2025. Usually, the free games Epic gives away are older titles, often from five to ten years ago, meaning many players may have already experienced them. This time, however, it’s a recent release, offering something fresh for everyone.
Hey everyone, just a heads-up! You can snag The Stone of Madness for free on the Epic Games Store right now until April 23rd at 11am ET. It’s normally $29.99, so it’s a pretty sweet deal. It came out in January 2025 and is made by The Game Kitchen. I’ve been checking it out, and it’s a really cool mix of stealth and strategy. You control five different characters, each with their own unique powers, which makes things interesting. Plus, the whole game has this awesome hand-painted look that really sets it apart on the Epic Store. Definitely worth grabbing if you’re looking for something a little different!
Reviews for The Stone of Madness are somewhat divided. It currently has a Metacritic score of 73/100, which is decent but not outstanding. Players who enjoyed the game particularly highlighted its graphics and engaging story. Overall, it has appealing qualities, though it might not appeal to all gamers.
If you’re as excited about The Stone of Madness as I am, you can get a better look at what it’s all about by checking out the official launch trailer and reading the game’s description below. I’m really hyped for this one!
The Stone of Madness
In the tactical stealth game The Stone of Madness, players are set within the walls of a crumbling 18th-century monastery in the Pyrenees Mountains of Spain. This former Jesuit monastery now houses both a mental asylum and a prison run by the Inquisition. Five desperate prisoners, each battling madness, despair, and harsh treatment, must combine their strengths to confront their fears, maintain their sanity, unravel the monastery’s secrets, and ultimately, escape.
Getting out of this heavily guarded monastery will be tough, but Agnes, Leonora, Eduardo, Amelia, and Alfredo are committed to escaping. You’ll switch between controlling each of these five characters, using their special and improving abilities to cast spells, take down enemies secretly, create diversions, disable ghosts, reach hidden locations, and accomplish other challenging tasks.
