New Epic Games Store Free Games Have Arrived Just Before 2026 Sequel

Epic Games Store is currently offering free games from the same series, a somewhat unusual move for them. Usually, their weekly free games are varied and from different genres. However, this January 2026, Epic is giving away two games that will be particularly interesting to players, as a new installment in the series is coming out soon.

From today, January 15th, until 11am Eastern Time on January 22nd, Epic Games Store users can get both Styx: Master of Shadows and Styx: Shards of Darkness completely free. Master of Shadows, originally released in 2014 and published by Focus Entertainment, is a stealth game set in a fantasy world and became a popular cult classic. That success led to a 2017 sequel, Shards of Darkness, which was also well-received by stealth game fans. You can download both games on the Epic Games Store now and save a total of $40.

The timing of these free Styx games on the Epic Games Store is perfect, as a new installment is coming soon. After a long wait since Shards of Darkness, the series returns next month with Styx: Blades of Greed, launching on February 19th. This gives newcomers a chance to experience Master of Shadows and Shards of Darkness for free before the new game arrives.

Styx: Master of Shadows

In Styx: Master of Shadows, you play as a two-century-old Goblin named Styx. It’s a stealth-focused game with RPG features set in a dark fantasy world, where you’ll need to use sneaking, stealing, and assassination to succeed.

Deep within the towering and complex ruins of the Akenash Tower, guarded by Humans and Elves who protect the World-Tree – the source of a potent, magical golden sap called Amber – lies the key for Styx to uncover his past… and potentially gain a great reward.

Styx: Shards of Darkness

Get ready for a new stealth adventure with Styx! You’ll explore large, open worlds, silently sneak past enemies or take them down with deadly attacks. As a goblin assassin, you’ll have a variety of new weapons and skills to master.

Discover and become skilled in expansive open worlds. You can either sneak past or take down new enemies and powerful bosses using a variety of deadly abilities and weapons as a goblin assassin. Scale the towering Elven city, navigate the dangerous lands of the Dwarfs, and survive in vast, uncharted territories filled with threats to complete your mission – because if you fail, your people could suffer greatly.
