Okay, so Microsoft just dropped a new game on Game Pass, which is awesome! But here’s the catch – it’s only for those of us with the Ultimate or PC Game Pass tiers. If you’re on the basic Essential or Premium tiers, you’ll have to buy it like everyone else. It’s a co-op simulation game that’s currently in early access on Steam and as a preview on Xbox, and it’ll cost you around $13 to play.
Okay, so I just saw that Roadside Research, this new co-op game where you basically mess around with gas (sounds weird, I know!), dropped today and it’s available on Game Pass! I’m definitely checking it out. It’s getting pretty good reviews so far – around 80% positive on Steam. It’s too new to have a score on the Xbox Store yet, but everything I’m seeing seems to match what people are saying on Steam – looks like it’s a fun, silly time!
Co-Op Gas Simulation Game With Aliens
Many newer simulation games add strange or unusual elements to their gameplay. While realistic, hardcore simulations are still around, more and more games are taking liberties with what ‘simulation’ actually means. Some of these games pull it off successfully, while others don’t. Most players seem to enjoy Roadside Research, though it definitely has its critics. Interestingly, the top-rated review on Steam is actually a negative one.
The most popular Steam review says this game didn’t live up to expectations. It feels like a copy of typical casual supermarket simulator games, but with a ‘Men in Black’ theme where agents try to catch you. However, the reviewer found this addition wasn’t very funny, challenging, or interesting.
Another highly-rated player shared their experience with the early access version, saying the first 1.2 hours lived up to their high expectations.
Microsoft hasn’t announced how long the game will be on Xbox Game Pass, but as long as it’s part of the subscription service, members can buy it for 20% off. It’s worth knowing that this game is only available on Xbox Series X and isn’t offered on PlayStation or Nintendo consoles.
If you’re not excited about this new feature, or if you don’t have an Ultimate or PC subscription, you might still want to explore what was added to the subscription service last night – it’s considered one of the greatest fantasy role-playing games ever made.
So, yeah, let me know what you guys think! Drop a comment here, or head over to the ComicBook Forum to chat with everyone else.
