A new game is currently available for free on Steam for all PC players until September 23rd. If you claim it before then, you get to keep it permanently! While it’s not a brand-new blockbuster title, it’s a great option for anyone who enjoys classic games from the SNES and Sega Genesis eras and wants a bit of nostalgia.
Right now, Steam is offering two free games. You can get Metal: Hellsinger for free, but it requires a few extra steps to claim. The other free game, Cybarian: The Time Travelling Warrior, is much simpler – just a few clicks and it’s yours! This game originally came out in 2018 and was created by Ritual Games and published by GrabTheGames.
About the Game:
If you’re not familiar with *Cybarian: The Time Travelling Warrior*, it’s an action game that takes inspiration from classic titles. The trailer shows a free game that blends the fast-paced action of beat ’em ups with platforming challenges, all presented in a retro pixel-art style, and featuring epic boss battles. It feels very much like the kinds of games that were popular on the SNES and Sega Genesis in the late 80s and early 90s.
The PC game usually costs just $5, so this deal isn’t a huge discount. And, as the price indicates, it’s a fairly short game, lasting only a few hours.
Steam Deck Support
Some Steam Deck players might have trouble with this offer, but it’s not certain. The game’s Steam page doesn’t currently state whether it works well on the Steam Deck, meaning Valve hasn’t tested it yet. However, good news for Steam Deck gamers: one of the most anticipated games of 2025 has recently been confirmed to work on the device.
We’d love to hear your thoughts, so please leave a comment! You can also discuss this over on the ComicBook Forum. And if you’re a PC gamer looking for free games, the Epic Games Store just added two new titles you might enjoy.
