Cameron Monaghan steps into the past for the first official look at Bosch: Start of Watch.
Cameron Monaghan is known for playing diverse characters in popular series and films. He’s best known for his 11-season role as Ian Gallagher in the drama Shameless and his appearances as Jerome Valeska in Gotham. Beyond live-action roles, he’s also lent his voice to Cal Kestis in the Star Wars franchise and recently played Caius in Tron: Ares.
Stephen Monaghan, a BAFTA nominee at 32, is about to take on a major role as he steps into the part originally played by Titus Welliver in the new Bosch prequel, Bosch: Start of Watch. Monaghan recently shared the first official image from the upcoming MGM+ series, announcing that filming has begun and the show will be released soon.
The photo shows Monagan sitting in a chair labeled “Harry Bosch.” He’s facing a black-and-white police car, giving fans a sneak peek at the upcoming show. Interestingly, the actor, who is naturally a redhead, is sporting dark brown hair for the role.
What To Know About Cameron Monagan’s Bosch Prequel
This new series follows Harry Bosch, a character created by Michael Connelly and previously played by Titus Welliver. The story takes place in 1991 Los Angeles and centers around Bosch as a young, inexperienced police officer just starting his career.
The new series will explore a city struggling with racial conflict, gang violence, and problems within its police department. As things escalate, Harry finds himself caught up in a major robbery and a network of police corruption. This will challenge his dedication to the force and ultimately define his path as a detective.
Omari Hardwick, known for his role in Power, will join the cast of Bosch: Start of Watch as Eli Bridges, who mentors Bosch. Ariana Guerra (CSI: Vegas) will play Rosa, a new officer who may become romantically involved with him. JD Pardo (Mayans MC) will star as Cory, a skilled thief and Harry’s adopted brother.
Azita Ghanizada, Kathleen Wilhoite, and William Fichtner (from Prison Break) star in the new MGM+ Original series. Seamus Dever, Kenneth Miller, Raphael Sbarge, Marco Rodriguez, Rafi Gavron, and Ryan McPartlin also appear. The show is a 1990s-set drama and isn’t based on a specific Harry Bosch novel, marking new ground for author Michael Connelly. Filming is currently underway in Los Angeles, and a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Titus Welliver Will Be Back As Bosch
Titus Welliver will be back as Harry Bosch in season two of the Bosch spin-off, Ballard, which is coming to Prime Video later this year. He’s also starring in a new crime drama called The Westies, premiering on MGM+ on July 12th. It’s shaping up to be a busy year for fans of crime shows, and especially for Welliver himself.
As a fan, I’m really excited about ‘Bosch: Start of Watch’! It’s a big moment for Titus Makhenzo Monaghan – it’s the first time he’s been the main star of a TV show after starting his acting career way back in 2002. And honestly, knowing how talented and diverse he is from his other work, I think it’s been worth the wait to see him lead a project like this.
