New John Wick-Style Gritty WWII Thriller Instantly Climbs Up Netflix’s American Streaming Charts

A gritty, John Wick-style action movie is climbing Netflix’s American streaming charts.

The recently released World War II action thriller is already a hit on the streaming service, quickly becoming a Top 10 film in the US. While many WWII movies focus on the historical events, this one stands out by using exciting action sequences to tell a fresh and compelling story.

Sisu: Road to Revenge is the follow-up to the 2022 film, Sisu. It stars Jorma Tommila as Aatami Korpi, a war veteran who seeks revenge against a KGB operative responsible for the death of his family during World War II.

According to FlixPatrol, the movie Sisu: Road to Revenge is already a hit on Netflix in the US. As of March 23, 2026, it’s currently the third most popular film on the platform, behind The Bad Guys 2 and the top movie, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

Why Sisu: Road To Revenge Is An Instant Streaming Success

The action movie Sisu: Road to Revenge is finding success on Netflix, but it’s already received a lot of praise. Critics and viewers both love it, and as of today, it has a 94% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and an 87% audience score.

Both Tommila’s return as Aatami and Stephen Lang’s performance as the ruthless Soviet villain Yeagor Draganov have received high praise. Their intense conflict fuels Aatami’s violent quest for revenge, delivering a thrilling and action-packed experience with plenty of satisfying moments.

Despite initially flopping in theaters, the movie Sisu: Road to Revenge has found lasting popularity. While critics and viewers enjoyed it, it only made $9.8 million worldwide on a $12.2 million budget. However, its success on Netflix proves how much audiences love this violent, action-packed revenge thriller, which is similar in style to John Wick.

Will Sisu 3 Ever Happen?

Despite not being a big success in theaters, a third Sisu movie hasn’t been completely dismissed. Jalmari Helander, the writer and director, says there are no current plans, but he’s open to making another film if a good idea comes along. Jorma Tommila, the star, has also said he’d be interested in reprising his role.

Despite not having a sequel planned yet, Sisu: Road to Revenge provides a satisfying ending. While the film leaves room for future installments, particularly if it continues to perform well on Netflix, this could very well be the final chapter. If so, the series would end on a high note.

I’ve been really impressed with how well Sisu: Road to Revenge is doing on Netflix, especially since it just arrived! It’s still early days, so I’m hoping we’ll see it stay popular for a while. While a sequel isn’t guaranteed, the movie’s success shows people are really loving this kind of action, and honestly, it feels like a great continuation of what the first film started.
