Capcom is releasing a new Mega Man game in 2027! After a long wait, fans are excited about the game’s return, and its vibrant, colorful art style is a welcome change.
Capcom revealed the new game during the 2025 Video Game Awards with a brief gameplay trailer. While the trailer doesn’t reveal much, it gives a good sense of the game’s overall style. The visuals immediately stand out – the world is vibrant, clean, and colorful, sporting a modern, almost animated aesthetic that’s a departure from past games. It’s a different look, but it still feels distinctly like a Mega Man title.
Despite the updated visuals, the gameplay in the trailer feels instantly recognizable as classic Mega Man. It features the fast-paced jumping, precise platforming, and signature mid-air shooting the series is famous for. The trailer clearly shows the same exciting run-and-gun action fans have loved for decades, proving the core gameplay remains strong despite the new look.
The history of Mega Man goes back a long way. The original game came out in 1987, and the series quickly became very popular, spawning many sequels like Mega Man X, Zero, Battle Network, and Legends. Throughout all these games, the basic formula has remained consistent: smart level design, challenging but manageable gameplay, and the satisfying cycle of gaining new abilities by defeating bosses. It’s easy to see why Mega Man became one of Capcom’s most famous characters.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the game’s story, enemies, or new features, but the glimpses of levels shown are promising. The environments are detailed without feeling cluttered, the character movements are impactful, and the art style is vibrant but clear. It seems Capcom is carefully updating the classic Mega Man look and feel, improving the graphics while maintaining the fast-paced, easy-to-follow gameplay.
We still have a lot to learn about the new Mega Man game. Capcom hasn’t released details about characters, gameplay features, or even the official title yet. However, based on what we’ve seen, the game seems to be staying true to the series’ core while sporting a much more vibrant and expressive visual style than previous installments. For now, the short gameplay trailer is all Capcom is sharing, but it’s enough to suggest that the wait for a new Mega Man game has been worthwhile. It looks significantly different, but in a good way.
