New Nintendo Feature Reveals Which Games Work on Switch 2

Nintendo recently launched a tool to help players check if their existing Switch games will work on the new Nintendo Switch 2, which launched in June 2025 and quickly became the fastest-selling console ever. The Switch 2 boasts many highly requested improvements and features, and while it successfully addressed issues with one problematic game transfer, figuring out game compatibility hasn’t been straightforward. Luckily, Nintendo created a website to help with this.

Nintendo released a helpful website on November 10, 2025, to check if your existing Switch games will work on the new console. While the new Switch 2 can play many games from the original Switch, some didn’t work perfectly at first. Updates have fixed many of these issues, but the console isn’t fully backwards compatible yet. This website helps players easily see which games are compatible and which aren’t.

Nintendo Makes Determining Backwards Compatibility As Simple As a Search

As a Nintendo fan, I was really impressed with how easy it is to find games on their site. You just start typing, and the system quickly filters the list until you find what you’re looking for. I tried searching for “Breath of the Wild,” and it immediately showed a page with some cool artwork and a big blue checkmark saying, “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.” It’s seriously that simple! So, naturally, I wanted to see what it said about a game we know doesn’t work, just to test it out.

Nintendo recently launched a hidden website for its upcoming Switch 2 console, and it turns out to be a massive collection of over ten thousand video game wallpapers.

I was really excited to see if Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition would work on the Switch 2, but it looks like it has some serious problems. The compatibility report says it’s “Unsupported” and that there are issues with actually playing the game – so it probably won’t work at all. I also checked Kero Blaster, and thankfully that is compatible, but even then, the report says things might not run perfectly compared to the original Switch. The only other thing I tested was the Crunchyroll app, and unsurprisingly, that didn’t work either!

The new website is a helpful resource for Nintendo fans eager to see which of their games will work on the new console, though it currently has some limitations. It doesn’t say if Nintendo plans to fix compatibility issues for specific games. However, it’s likely Nintendo is already working on ensuring as many titles as possible function on the system, meaning players should eventually be able to enjoy their Switch games on the new console. While it will take time, this site offers a quick and easy way to check compatibility while everyone waits.
