Nintendo recently released software updates for both the Nintendo Switch and the newer Nintendo Switch 2. Even with the focus now shifting to the Switch 2, Nintendo continues to support the original Switch with ongoing updates. While this is likely to change in the future, the latest patch for both consoles is currently very similar.
A new update, version 21.0.1, is now available for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. This update mainly fixes a significant problem: an error that some users were encountering when transferring data from an original Switch to the new Switch 2. Because transferring data is essential for setting up a new Switch 2, Nintendo has addressed this issue to ensure a smoother experience.
In addition to these changes, a recent update fixed a Bluetooth connectivity issue for players using the Switch 2. Nintendo also included general “system stability improvements” – a common addition in these kinds of updates – for both consoles.

- Fixed an issue where Error Code: 2011-0301 or Error Code: 2168-0002 would repeatedly occur on a Nintendo Switch when attempting a system transfer using local communication from a Nintendo Switch system to a Nintendo Switch 2 system.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes, after waking up the system from Sleep Mode or turning off Airplane Mode, wireless controllers or Bluetooth audio devices were unable to connect.
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
