There’s a brand new Switch game that just jumped to the top as the highest-rated exclusive on the system for 2026, knocking Pokemon Pokopia (which is only on the Switch 2) off its perch. This new game is the third best game of the year overall, right after Forza Horizon 6 and Mina the Hollower. It’s cool that Mina the Hollower is the highest-rated game on both Switch and Switch 2 so far, but it’s not exclusive to either console, so this new Switch title really stands out!
Currently, the game Schrödinger’s Call is only available on PC and Nintendo Switch. Developed by Acrobatic Chirimenjako and published by Shueisha Games, this visual novel is proving to be a huge success. It’s received an impressive 89 on Metacritic, but players actually seem to love it even more. While the Nintendo eShop doesn’t have user reviews, the game boasts a 96% approval rating on Steam, based on 613 reviews – earning it the platform’s highest “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating. This is a fantastic debut for the developer!
Immersive and Emotional Visual Novel
The core idea behind this game is simple: If you knew the world was ending, who would you want to say goodbye to? And if you could help lost souls find peace as they pass between life and death, what comforting words would you offer?
If you’re thinking of trying out this new game on Nintendo Switch, it costs $17.99 on the Nintendo eShop. You can expect to spend around eight hours playing it.
Despite receiving great reviews and being popular with players, Schrödinger’s Call isn’t getting much attention, likely because it’s a Japanese visual novel. Even though it’s fully translated into English with English voiceovers, it’s still relatively unknown, especially since it falls into a specific genre. However, many people already consider it to be the best game of the year.
