A new, free-to-play open-world RPG is now available on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS5 Pro owners. It’s a console exclusive, meaning you can also find it on PC and mobile, but not on Xbox or Nintendo Switch. Players on the PlayStation Store are giving it positive reviews, particularly if you’re already a fan of the anime series it’s based on.
PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro owners can now download and play Netmarble’s open-world RPG, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, at no cost. The game is based on the popular manga The Seven Deadly Sins, which has sold over 55 million copies and is also available as an anime on Netflix. However, you don’t need to know anything about the manga or anime to enjoy this standalone game. Players on PlayStation 5 seem to be having a good time with it, giving it a 3.88 out of 5-star rating based on over 5,800 reviews on the PlayStation Store – which translates to a score of 78 out of 100. Currently, the PS5 user reviews are the only measure of the game’s quality, as it hasn’t received a Metacritic score yet due to a lack of critical reviews.
PS5 Pro Support?
PS5 Pro owners can play this new free PSN game just like everyone else with a PS5, but the game doesn’t take advantage of the Pro’s extra power. It doesn’t have any special features for the Pro, which is a bit of a letdown, though it’s common for most new PS5 games to launch without specific Pro enhancements.
Open-World RPG With Anime Style
In this game, you play as Prince Tristan, the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth, characters from the series. Knowing the story beforehand will make the experience richer, but it’s not necessary. You’ll journey through the kingdom of Britannia, working to bring peace back to a world disrupted by a strange collision of time and space.
Netmarble is likely hoping their new free-to-play game on PS5 performs better than their last one, which was taken down after only two months and is now being refunded by Sony. Early signs suggest The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is getting off to a good start, hopefully avoiding the same fate.
