New Plants vs. Zombies Game Leaks Ahead of Reveal

A fresh update on Plants vs. Zombies has disclosed information and affirmed the creation of a new game, earlier referred to as Plants Vs. Zombies Reloaded. The latest insights are leaking prior to the studio’s official announcement of the game. According to Dealabs, the title will be revised to Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted and is set for release on October 23rd this year. Additionally, the report has unveiled additional details that were previously hidden about the PvZ remaster.

Earlier this year, the game was initially spotted by Gematsu in a rating post on the Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security’s website. This new version of Plants vs. Zombies appears to be either a reboot or a fresh take on the original 2009 game, as suggested by its title.

In Brazil, the game “Plants vs. Zombies Reloaded” has received ratings for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, personal computers (PC), iPhones (iOS), and Android devices.

On a Friday announcement, Dealabs disclosed as much information as they presently can about the forthcoming game. They confirmed that the title will be changed from “Plants vs. Zombies Reloaded” to “Plants vs. Zombies Replanted”. Furthermore, they suggested a multi-platform release is likely. The game’s price has been set at €19.99 ($23 USD), regardless of platform, as per Dealabs, to maintain the affordability of the original game by staying true to its pricing.

According to Dealabs, an official announcement for the revamped edition of Plants vs. Zombies, developed by PopCap Games and published by EA, is expected within a month. As October is approaching, it’s likely we’ll soon see a trailer for this updated version of the classic game.

It’s important to mention that although Dealabs is reliable, the details haven’t been formally validated as of now. Yet, they seem consistent with the rumors circulating about the game.

In March, there was confirmation that a fresh edition of Plants vs. Zombies was under development, as a job advertisement for a Game Director at Popcap Games was unearthed. The job ad hinted at the creation of a new Plants vs. Zombies project which was in its initial stages.

Recently, there’s been a strong opposition among gamers towards microtransactions in the Plants vs. Zombies series of games. A YouTube video titled “Micro-Transactions Ruined Plants vs. Zombies,” uploaded by SunnyV2 in March, gained over 1.8 million views and expressed disapproval of this practice.

In the video, SunnyV2 expressed his opinion about the latest Plants vs. Zombies 3, stating that some people find it as if it was created from a trash can. He also mentioned that watching thirty-second ads for bonus coins is more entertaining than playing the game itself.

2024 saw the launch of the free-to-play game “Plants vs. Zombies 3”, which received significant criticism from players for its monetization strategy and artistic design. The backlash was so intense that Electronic Arts (EA) withdrew the game from app stores and deactivated its servers in November, hinting at a future “major revamp”. In a January blog post, the development team clarified that they were still dedicated to this overhaul, concentrating on enhancing the art style and considering player feedback.

According to Dealabs’ report, EA appears to have taken a different approach with “Plants vs. Zombies Replanted” by selling it at an upfront price, possibly indicating they’ve learned from past monetization strategies. It’s unclear yet if micro-transactions might be introduced in the game later on.
