There was a lot of anticipation, but also some frustration, leading up to the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Some fans were disappointed by a couple of early announcements. First, the Mega Dimensions DLC was revealed very early, before the main game even launched. Second, obtaining the Mega Stones for the original Pokemon X and Y starter Pokemon required playing ranked battles online, which meant players needed a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Many felt this created a paywall, preventing them from fully enjoying the game and getting Mega Evolutions for their favorite Pokemon. An upcoming update for Pokemon Legends: Z-A should help address these concerns.
The Pokémon Company recently shared details about Season 2 of Ranked Battles in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as well as a planned November update. While the original announcement has since been removed, websites like Serebii managed to gather the key information. Because this news was released a little ahead of schedule, some details might change when the update officially launches. However, current information suggests that it will become easier to obtain Delphoxite and Greninjite during Season 2.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Update Will Make it Easier to Get OG Kalos Starter Mega Stones

Season 2 of Ranked Battles is coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A in an update planned for November. While the specific date isn’t set, the update – which will also include bug fixes – should be released soon. This will be the first major update since the game launched.
The November update will include fixes for a couple of issues. Previously, if your inventory was full early in the game, you wouldn’t be able to successfully catch anything. Also, a specific timing issue with the day/night cycle could prevent you from completing certain side quests. While these problems likely didn’t affect many players, the update will address them, which is great to see.
The biggest improvement is that it will now be much simpler to obtain Mega Stones for the Kalos starter Pokémon. Players were previously annoyed that they had to play Ranked Battles to earn these stones, and that it took a lot of effort even then. Many are pleased with this upcoming change, though some still wish the stones weren’t tied to player-versus-player battles at all.
Delphoxite available at Rank S, Greninjite available at Rank Y

Starting with Season 2 of Ranked Battles, Mega Delphox and Mega Greninja stones will be easier to obtain, becoming available at lower ranks. The Pokémon website previously announced the new rank requirements, but that post has since been removed.
- Rank S – Delphoxite
- Rank Y- Greninjite
Since the tournament begins at Rank Z, most players should be able to get the Greninjite fairly easily. Reaching Rank S will take more effort, but you don’t always have to win matches to improve your ranking.
We don’t have an exact date for Season 2 yet, but with an update scheduled for November, it might start very soon – possibly within the next few days. Once the update arrives, it will likely be simpler to collect the stones needed to Mega Evolve your Kalos starter Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
