After speculation about potential setbacks, there’s been a fresh piece of news regarding DC Studios’ Sgt. Rock film. Earlier reports suggested that the project’s initial production kickoff might be postponed, but now we have an update to share.
What’s the new update for DCU’s Sgt. Rock movie?
Following the confirmation of Luca Guadagnino’s departure from the DC Universe film, it was disclosed by insider Daniel Richtman that DC Studios has allegedly begun searching for a new director for the Sgt. Rock movie. This news offers an optimistic outlook for fans eagerly awaiting the live-action introduction of this DC character.
Prior to Guadagnino’s departure, it was Colin Farrell who was initially set for the main role in the movie. Previously, there were whispers about Daniel Craig and Jeremy Allen White being potential choices for the project. Now that Guadagnino has stepped away from the film, it remains undecided whether his collaborator Justin Kuritzkes will pen the script. Details about the storyline are currently confidential, but DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn expressed that the project is thriving creatively.
Gunn expressed that we’re in a satisfactory position, continuing to progress. However, he admitted that at the moment, creatively it hasn’t quite reached his desired level, necessitating some adjustments.
The character was originated by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert, and they portray him as a hardened commander leading the combat unit known as Easy Company, which engages in battles against Nazi forces across Europe.
