The second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally here after a lot of anticipation, and it’s packed with intense action. This new trailer, just released by Marvel, shows more of the developing story between Spider-Man and Hulk, and teases the still-secret villain from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s surprising that, so close to the movie’s release, we still don’t know who this villain is or the name of Sadie Sink’s character. If Sony can keep those details under wraps until the premiere, it would be a welcome change of pace.
The new trailer for Brand New Day gives us our first proper look at a truly wild and destructive Hulk. This version of Bruce Banner’s alter-ego seems to be controlled by an unknown enemy. We’ve seen this happen before – in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Hulk became so uncontrollable that Banner had to leave the Avengers. While Iron Man stopped him then with his Hulkbuster armor, Spider-Man will have to rely on his own abilities this time. After years of either struggling to transform or being calmed down as the “Smart Hulk,” we’re finally seeing a raw and powerful Hulk again, and it’s exciting! You can watch the trailer here:
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Marks a Beginning… And An End?
The initial trailer for Brand New Day highlighted Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, starting a new chapter after the events of No Way Home. The latest trailer dives deeper into Peter Parker’s genetic mutation and reveals why he seeks help from Bruce Banner. Peter hopes to find a way to fix his changing DNA. In one scene, Peter asks if they can remove the negative effects while keeping the positive ones, prompting Banner to question who gets to decide what’s ‘bad’ in nature. This explains why Banner never fully cured himself of being the Hulk, even when he became the more controlled Professor Hulk.
This time, the danger feels much greater for Spider-Man, who is battling enemies from every direction. One villain has the power to instantly control people’s minds, and to protect MJ and Ned, Spider-Man turns to the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal. The director, Destin Daniel Cretton, has even suggested viewers should watch as if it could be the last Spider-Man movie ever. While it’s unlikely Spider-Man will actually die, this installment appears to be the most intense and somber one yet.
The trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day highlights that Spider-Man is struggling to control his powers. These powers might be growing due to a new, unknown danger that’s pushing him to change. His spider-sense is the only thing that can detect a psychic threat moving through New York City, making him the city’s last hope. On top of that, Peter Parker is facing a personal crisis – he’s questioning who he is now that those closest to him have forgotten his past.
