A brand new Star Trek project is on the way, and it’s unlike anything the franchise has done before. Star Trek has a long history of experimenting with different ways to tell stories. It started with the original TV show, which led to an animated series featuring the same characters. Then came the first Star Trek movie, which really boosted the franchise’s popularity. That success paved the way for Star Trek: The Next Generation, the first official spin-off series, and many more shows over the decades. More recently, we’ve seen humorous animated shows, streaming series with ongoing storylines, and a wealth of comic books exploring the characters in greater detail.
Star Trek is trying something new! For the first time, the franchise is releasing digital comics, starting with a series called Stargazers, a Star Trek Story on March 17th, according to TrekMovie.com. This story will take place on Deep Space Nine.
Star Trek Expanding Into Webcomics

As a huge Star Trek fan, I’m really intrigued by their new webcomic, Stargazers! It’s a first for the franchise – they’re trying out this vertical-scroll format specifically for the WEBTOON app. Three free episodes will be available starting March 17th at 11 p.m. ET, and there are plans for a total of 40. While it’s awesome that this story will officially be part of the Star Trek universe, I’m getting a bit of a Star Trek: Starfleet Academy vibe, so it might appeal more to younger audiences. It’s definitely a different approach, and we’ll see how it lands with long-time fans.
The new series, Stargazers, is set on Deep Space 9 and follows a fresh group of young adults as they experience love, friendship, and self-discovery. Taking place in a lively part of the galaxy still rebuilding after the war, Stargazers is a young adult romance that explores what it means to come of age.
A new Star Trek webcomic, titled Recollection, is coming this summer. Like the first one, it will have 40 episodes, but this series is geared more towards adult fans. The story follows a crew who wake up on a Federation starship with no memories, and it’s set in a future timeline inspired by Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager. It promises to be a suspenseful mystery.
WEBTOON, a widely used platform for reading comics online, will be releasing these new Star Trek episodes without charge. Although it’s known for anime, WEBTOON also features popular comics like those based on Marvel heroes, including Spider-Man (Miles Morales) and Daredevil.
