Recent reports suggest that the release of Star Wars Eclipse, the game being developed by Quantic Dream, is still a long way off. Quantic Dream first revealed the game with a short trailer back in 2021, but very little information has been released since then, leading to concerns about its development. New details now indicate that fans shouldn’t expect to hear much more about the project for quite some time.
During the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, co-host Mike Straw discussed the development of Star Wars Eclipse. He reported hearing that progress on the game has been very slow, with little accomplished in recent months. While a significant amount of work is reportedly finished, Quantic Dream is still taking a long time to complete the project, and a release is not expected for several years.
Star Wars Eclipse Might Be in Trouble
According to Straw, developing games takes a significant amount of time for Quantic Dream, and the studio may face financial difficulties in the future. Their next game, Spellcasters Chronicles, is scheduled to release on PC later this year. If the game doesn’t perform well, NetEase – who acquired Quantic Dream in 2022 and has been providing funding – might reduce its financial support for the studio.
It’s unclear how the recent changes in Quantic Dream’s funding will affect Star Wars Eclipse. A significant amount of money has already been invested in the game, making it unlikely NetEase would completely abandon the project. However, similar situations have occurred at other game studios recently, so it’s still possible Star Wars Eclipse could be cancelled.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Star Wars Eclipse, and we don’t yet know which gaming systems it will be available on. Although previous games made by Quantic Dream were only playable on PlayStation, Eclipse is anticipated to launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC – whenever it’s finally released.
