New Streaming Crime Drama Has a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

A crime drama titled “Code of Silence,” which first aired on BritBox and features Rose Ayling-Ellis in the lead role, has received a flawless score on Rotten Tomatoes. This captivating series follows Alison Woods (portrayed by Ayling-Ellis), a deaf caterer who struggles to support both herself and her mother. A life-changing opportunity arises when she is asked by the police to interpret conversations with dangerous criminals using sign language. However, this assignment leads Alison into a romantic entanglement with one of the suspects, yet she remains steadfast in her commitment to the case. The show has garnered the exceptionally rare 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but opinions among fans are split, as it receives a 68% rating on the Popcornmeter.

Originally premiered on BritBox in July, Code of Silence, a show created by Catherine Moulton, is now streaming for US and Canadian audiences. The current season consists of six episodes, although the entire series was previously released in the UK by ITV. For those in the US and Canada, this is a new viewing experience as the series has only recently become available here. The first two installments of Code of Silence were made available on BritBox on July 24th, with subsequent episodes to be released weekly, every Thursday. This show also offers a significant representation of the deaf community, as it is available in American Sign Language, and thanks to ITV, it’s also accessible in British Sign Language.

I’m thrilled to share that the gripping series, Code of Silence, has been granted another chapter by ITV! Development for the upcoming season is well underway, with production slated to start next year, though an exact date remains undetermined. The first season of this extraordinary crime drama has already earned praise for its outstanding portrayal of deaf representation on television, going beyond the ordinary.

In this series, along with Rose Ayling-Ellis, you’ll find actors such as Charlotte Ritchie, Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, Andrew Buchan, Dedun Omole, Kieron Moore, Joe Absolom, Beth Goddard, Fifi Garfield, and Rolf Choutan. Unlike typical weekly crime dramas, Code of Silence uses its six episodes to delve into a criminal gang’s plan for a jewelry heist. The show employs Alison’s unique ability to lip-read in public, helping her decipher the gang’s scheme and eventually assuming an undercover role to try and take down their operation.

In the UK, “Code of Silence” was broadcasted on ITV1 and ITVX starting from May 18th, with the complete season accessible on ITVX. The first two episodes were also released on BritBox on July 24th, followed by the season finale on August 21st. Sadly, in the United States, fans can only stream the series on BritBox. BritBox, a streaming service, is also where you’ll find other titles such as “Archie,” “After the Flood,” “The Bay,” “Blue Lights,” “Outrageous,” “Sister Boniface Mysteries,” “The Beast Must Die,” and “Beyond Paradise.” New subscribers can enjoy a 7-day free trial, with the service costing $8.99 per month or $89.99 for an annual subscription if you prefer to pay yearly.
