Super Bowl Sunday is a big event for movie lovers, not just football fans, because several major movie trailers usually premiere during the broadcast. This year promises some exciting trailers, but DC Studios surprised everyone by releasing a first look at the Supergirl movie even before the game began. The clip features a particularly cute appearance by baby Krypto, as you can see in the video linked here.
New footage featuring Krypto the Super Dog was shown during The Puppy Bowl and later shared online by James Gunn. The clip starts with Kara among the people of Argo City, and a small puppy spots her in the crowd. That puppy is, of course, Krypto! The moment Kara picks him up is one of the sweetest and most heartwarming scenes from the film we’ve seen so far. You can watch the full trailer below, and if you’re a Krypto fan, you’ll love it!
Just Like In Superman, Krypto Is Going To Be The Perfect Sidekick In Supergirl

Viewers of last year’s Superman likely remember Krypto as a delightful presence throughout the film. He consistently added fun moments without overshadowing Superman’s story or growth. Krypto’s scenes were always enjoyable, and he even had a chance to shine during some of the movie’s most exciting parts.
It appears the new movie is taking cues from the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow storyline, which could give Supergirl a major part to play. The trailer highlights that Krypto is Supergirl’s dog, not Superman’s, suggesting their bond will be much stronger than the one between Superman and his pet.
Similar to Superman’s relationship with Krypto, the film portrays Krypto as the ideal companion for Kara. James Gunn also shared an adorable poster of baby Krypto, instantly boosting the cuteness factor. The little pup is incredibly sweet, and the poster reveals Kara has given him a Super-Crest collar – though it’s still a bit big – officially welcoming him into the Supergirl and Superman family.
We’re really excited for the upcoming Supergirl movie! Based on the clips we’ve seen so far – including footage of Supergirl, Lobo, and Krypto – it’s already one of our most anticipated films of 2026.
Supergirl hits theaters on June 26, 2026.
