Back in the early part of the year, the brilliant minds at Strange Scaffold dropped Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown on PC, leaving console gamers green with envy and eagerly asking if we’d get a taste too. Well, hold onto your shells! The TMNT game is indeed coming to consoles, and it won’t be long before the turtle power reaches our hands – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown will be available on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S starting August 14th! Rest assured, the game you loved earlier this year remains unchanged, but there’s an exciting new twist – a Remix Mode that will also debut on Steam via a free update on the same day. Can’t wait to team up with Mikey, Leo, Donnie, and Raph for some tactical takedown action!
In a nutshell, Strange Scaffold clarified that Remix Mode in Tactical Takedown isn’t equivalent to New Game+. Rather, when players conquer a stage, they’ll instantly unlock a Remix adaptation. These revised stages will introduce a wider range of adversaries and a higher level of challenge. To tackle these remixed stages, players need to adapt their previous strategies and maximize the moves acquired from Fugitoid. For those who have already completed the game on Steam, this update serves as an incentive to re-engage with Tactical Takedown. It also aims to enhance the overall value for console gamers. A fresh trailer for the game is available below.
As a passionate gamer, I was eagerly anticipating news about the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown on either the PS4 or PS5. To my surprise, today’s announcement failed to mention any plans for these platforms, which has left many PlayStation users, including myself, a bit disappointed and taken aback. However, considering the long history of the TMNT on Nintendo platforms dating back nearly four decades, and given the success indie games tend to have on the Switch, it seems like a perfect fit for this game as well. For now, we can only hope that future announcements will bring good news for PS4 and PS5 users.
Over the past few years, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been featured in numerous games, but what sets “Tactical Takedown” apart is that it’s the first time they’ve been part of a turn-based game. The characters are designed to look like collectible figurines, and the levels resemble intricate dioramas. Additionally, this game has its own unique narrative, unfolding after the demise of Shredder and Splinter. This event has led the team to split up, a situation mirrored in the gameplay itself.
The game “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown” currently boasts a highly favorable review on Steam, yet due to its recent launch in May, the number of user reviews is relatively low. It’s exciting to observe console gamers’ reactions to “Tactical Takedown” when it launches later this month, as their feedback will help shape its overall reputation.
