New Terminator Game Gets Delayed With No New Release Date

The new Terminator video game has been pushed back, with no confirmed release date beyond 2025. Although the Terminator movies haven’t been made recently, several games based on the franchise have been released. The latest, Terminator 2D: No Fate, came out just last week and is based on Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Unfortunately, fans hoping to play another new Terminator game soon will have to wait even longer.

Nacon announced this week that its open-world survival game, Terminator: Survivors, won’t be released this year. There hasn’t been much news about the game since it was first revealed in 2024, so the delay isn’t entirely unexpected. However, Nacon hasn’t announced a new release date, and has cancelled plans for an early access launch, meaning the game is now delayed indefinitely.

Despite not sharing many updates recently, the team has been very busy and has made significant progress on all aspects of the game, including the world, combat, story, and overall atmosphere, according to game director Marco Ponte. They’ve also decided to change their launch strategy. Instead of releasing an early access version, they want players to experience a fully finished and refined game from the start. As you might expect, this means Terminator: Survivors won’t be released in 2025. They don’t have a new release date yet, but they promise to share one as soon as it’s confirmed.

This Terminator Game Will Now Be Missing One Big Feature

In addition to delaying the launch of Terminator: Survivors, Nacon announced that the game will no longer include cooperative multiplayer. This feature was expected to be a major part of the game and a key reason for fan excitement. Nacon stated that removing co-op was a difficult decision, but they believe it will ultimately result in a better game that stays true to the spirit of the Terminator films.

“Our aim with Terminator: Survivors has always been to bring you an authentic and immersive open-world Terminator experience that recreates the harsh reality of Skynet’s uprising, and the resilience of humanity in spite of it,” Ponte’s statement continued. “After months of internal testing, discussions with players and fans of the license, we came to the conclusion that to give you an authentic Terminator experience with the best possible shooting and exploration gameplay, we would have to put aside the cooperative multiplayer. We know this may come as a disappointment, but we believe it is the right creative direction for an uncompromising vision of the world after Judgment Day.”

Currently, Terminator: Survivors is being developed only for PC, but versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are planned for the future. We hope to learn more about the release date for those consoles as we get closer to 2026.
