If you’ve tried to buy Pokémon cards recently, you’ve probably noticed they’ve been hard to find, with shelves often empty throughout 2025. For several years, demand for Pokémon cards has been very high, but there haven’t been enough available, which has caused prices to increase and encouraged people to buy them just to resell. While The Pokémon Company has said they’re working on making more cards, new sets still sell out quickly. Now, a new report indicates The Pokémon Company is taking significant steps to address the shortage and get Pokémon cards back in stores.
On December 17th, the Pokemon news site PokeBeach reported that Millennium Print Group, the company that prints Pokemon Trading Cards (TCG) and other trading cards, has bought a large new factory. TPCi purchased Millennium Print Group in 2022, and this expansion suggests they are preparing to significantly increase production. Here’s a summary of the details.
The Company that Prints Pokemon Cards Is Reportedly About to Expand in a Big Way

Recent reports indicate an unnamed company has leased a large 1.27 million square foot manufacturing facility in Morrisville, North Carolina. While the source isn’t publicly known, PokeBeach reports the company is likely Millennium Print Group. This makes sense because Millennium Print Group prints Pokémon cards and has a location in North Carolina, as well as one in the Netherlands. However, The Pokémon Company hasn’t officially confirmed the deal yet.
It’s become clear that The Pokémon Company needs to make more trading cards to meet how many people want them. They’ve admitted to shortages, explaining they were already producing as much as possible. Expanding their production facilities seems like a logical next step to increase the number of cards available.
Millennium is expanding its operations at the manufacturing site by both renting existing space and building a new facility. However, this expansion isn’t expected to be fully completed until 2027. They might be able to start using the rented space sooner and ramp up production while construction finishes. Even with that possibility, delays in getting the new facilities fully operational could lead to Pokémon card shortages continuing well into 2026.

This is positive news for Pokemon card collectors who have been hoping for a more stable market. Increasing the number of cards available will help in two key ways. It will be easier for people to find the cards they want, and it should also lower prices on the resale market. This could discourage people from buying up large quantities of cards just to resell them, making it easier for genuine Pokemon Trading Card Game fans to collect.
It probably won’t be until late 2026 or early 2027, but Pokémon fans should be able to buy physical Pokémon Trading Card Game packs again soon. I, for one, really miss the fun of opening packs in person and can’t wait to do it again.
I’m really curious – are you guys still collecting Pokemon cards? Things have been a little crazy with prices lately, and I’m wondering if anyone else has had to take a break. Let’s chat about it over on the ComicBook Forum – I’d love to hear what you think!
