Surprisingly, the top-rated PS5 game right now originally launched on Xbox! Players are loving it on PlayStation, giving it a 4.8 out of 5 star rating based on over 1,700 reviews. It’s also been enhanced for the PS5 Pro, meaning the developers have added special features and improvements just for that console. It’s available now for $70.
This week saw the release of Ninja Gaiden 4 from Team Ninja, PlatinumGames, and Xbox Game Studios, and it’s been well-received with a score of 82 on Metacritic. While not universally acclaimed, that’s a respectable score. Player reviews actually suggest the game might be even better than that. It has a near-perfect rating on the PlayStation Store and an 88% approval rating on Steam. Interestingly, Xbox users give it a slightly lower rating of 4 out of 5, which is closer to the Metacritic score. This makes sense because it’s available through Xbox Game Pass, meaning more people are trying it without a significant upfront cost. People who pay full price for a game ($70) are generally more invested in it, while those playing through a subscription might be less enthusiastic to begin with, potentially leading to a more critical outlook.
About the Game
Ninja Gaiden 4 is the latest installment in the challenging and action-packed Ninja Gaiden series. It continues the story from Ninja Gaiden 3 (released in 2012), but you don’t need to have played any previous games to enjoy it. While familiarity with the series can add to the experience, it’s not necessary to jump in and play.
You’ll play as Yakumo, a talented young ninja, in this game – not the main character, Ryu Hayabusa. Ryu is playable at times, but Yakumo is the primary character. Together, they must protect a futuristic Tokyo from a powerful, long-dormant evil.
If you’re thinking of trying Ninja Gaiden 4 after hearing good things, you can expect to spend around 10 to 16 hours finishing the main story, depending on how much extra stuff you do. If you’re a completionist and want to experience everything, it will likely take 25 to 30 hours.
