As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled about the latest day one game on Xbox Game Pass that’s been taking the horror genre by storm! This chilling masterpiece debuted on Xbox Series X consoles on July 17 and was instantly added to Xbox Game Pass, sparing us subscribers from a $29.99 purchase. With its current reign atop the Xbox Game Pass for Console chart, it’s evident that this game is resonating with horror enthusiasts and more. The question now is how long it will remain on Xbox Game Pass, but until then, it’s a chilling addition to our gaming library that I can’t get enough of!
In March of this year, the latest day one Xbox Game Pass title, “My Friendly Neighborhood,” was released on consoles. Developed by John Szymanski and Evan Szymanski, and published by DreadXP, this game originally debuted in 2023, but it’s only now available for console play.
In the year 2023, the horror game was launched with a strong Metacritic score of 81. It also received a 96% approval rating on Steam from 2,188 user reviews, which equates to its highest possible rating: “Overwhelmingly Positive.” Given these impressive numbers, it’s no wonder that the game is performing well on Xbox Game Pass.
The beloved Saturday morning puppet show, The Friendly Neighborhood, has encountered some strange happenings as per the game’s description for newcomers. For decades, its vibrant characters captivated audiences worldwide with their whimsical antics and educational journeys. As time passed and popularity dwindled, the production company faced financial struggles and eventually shut down. Sales of related toys dropped, and birthday celebrations found new symbols. Over time, the once-popular figures became increasingly obscure within niche fanbases. However, years later, unexpectedly, the studio resumes operation and starts airing The Friendly Neighborhood. TV screens worldwide momentarily flicker before the familiar puppets return for an unanticipated encore! But this isn’t your regular heartwarming holiday special… are those puppets cannibalizing each other?
With My Friendly Neighborhood now available on Xbox Game Pass, subscribers can purchase it directly for $24 instead of the usual $30 due to an exclusive Game Pass discount. On the other hand, whether you decide to play it for free through Game Pass or buy it outright, be prepared for a game that lasts approximately four to seven hours. However, if you aim for full completion, you’ll likely need around eleven to twelve hours with the Xbox Game Pass version.
