Nicole Kidman Makes First Major Appearance Since Keith Urban Breakup

Nicole Kidman is bringing awareness to an important cause.

The Big Little Lies actress was seen in public for the first time on October 4th since she filed for divorce from her husband, Keith Urban. She attended a charity auction in Texas, which supported amfAR Dallas.

At the fundraising event for HIV/AIDS research, the actress chose a black, off-the-shoulder dress. She spoke briefly before honoring Yellowstone’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, with the nonprofit organization’s Award of Inspiration.

She explained that Taylor understands, just as we all do, that our similarities outweigh our differences, and that we achieve more when we support one another,” she said in a video obtained by People. “That’s naturally why we’re gathered here tonight. There’s no better way to show support and celebrate what connects us as humans than by funding groundbreaking and creative research.”

Following her divorce filing from the singer of “Long Hot Summer” on September 30th, Nicole, 58, has largely stayed out of the public eye. She was recently spotted on a hike in Nashville with her sister Antonia Kidman. Photos published by the Daily Mail on October 1st show Antonia listening carefully as Nicole spoke with passion.

Following the separation, 57-year-old Keith-who has two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Nicole-has remained active. He restarted his High and Alive World Tour on October 2nd in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and reportedly continued to include a photo of his soon-to-be ex-wife and their daughters in his show, as stated by People.

Although the couple hasn’t publicly commented on the end of their 19-year marriage, TopMob News previously reported that the split wasn’t mutual. Sources indicated Nicole was attempting to reconcile, even as she and Keith lived separately over the summer.

During that time, the Academy Award-winning actress was looking after Sunday and Faith at the family’s home in Nashville, while her former partner stayed at a different place in the same city.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban quietly separated and began living separately around the start of summer, according to TopMob News. Several significant events throughout the summer then contributed to their eventual decision to file for divorce.

They were last seen together in public at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Nashville, and witnesses noted they were laughing and smiling.

To celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary in June, Kidman shared a picture of the couple, writing, “Happy Anniversary Baby.” Urban responded with a heart emoji, but he didn’t share a post himself.

People were surprised when the country singer suddenly stopped an interview after a question about the chemistry between Kidman and Zac Efron in the movie A Family Affair.

A radio host on Australia’s Mix 102.3’s Hayley & Max in the Morning asked, “Given how often your wife, the wonderful Nicole Kidman, appears in so many successful movies and TV shows, what does Keith Urban think when he sees her sharing romantic scenes with younger actors like Zac Efron on television and radio?”

Suddenly, Urban disappeared from the call.

“He’s no longer connected to Zoom,” a radio station employee explained. “It seems his team ended the call, likely because they didn’t want us to bring up that topic.”

His rep didn’t respond to TopMob’s request for comment at the time. 

I was so excited to hear from TopMob News that Practical Magic‘s own Nicole Kidman is applying to become a resident of Portugal! Apparently, Keith Urban is planning to join her and do the same. It’s amazing to see them embracing a new chapter there!

According to a source familiar with the matter, “Keith couldn’t attend the appointment in Portugal because he’s currently touring in the U.S.,” TopMob reports. The source also explained that attending in person is required to apply for the visa. Keith plans to submit his application when his tour schedule allows.”

At the time, the source said both planned to maintain a permanent residence in Nashville as well.

Initially, she didn’t like this rule, but now she’s grateful for it, saying it helps her stay focused and positive. “I am actually really glad that I have these rules in place because it keeps me in a good mindset.”

Nicole Kidman posted some photos on Sunday remembering her summer with her teenage daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, but her husband wasn’t included in the Instagram post.

“Summer memories,” the actress wrote. “Now back to school.”

I remember back in August, the legal team drafted a Child Support Worksheet as part of the Parenting Plan. It clearly stated that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban would be joint custodians of their amazing daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. It was such a relief to see that officially documented!

However, the Oscar winner was designated as the main parent for where the girls live. They spend 306 days a year with their mother and 59 days with their father (Urban will have the children every other weekend).

Neither will pay child support, according to the doc obtained by TopMob News.

As a devoted follower of healthy co-parenting, I was really pleased to read that the parents will always treat each other and their children with love, stability, and consistency, even after their divorce. It’s so important! The agreement specifically states they won’t say negative things about each other, or about anyone in the other parent’s family. And I especially appreciate that they’ll actively encourage each child to continue loving *both* parents and feel at ease in *both* families. It’s a fantastic commitment to making things as smooth as possible for the kids, and I believe this co-parenting approach is crucial for their well-being.

Urban finalized their divorce agreement, having it officially notarized in August, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.

The document explained that Kidman planned to file for divorce from him because they had disagreements that couldn’t be resolved. It also noted that neither of them would receive alimony or financial support after the divorce. Further details were not provided.

The same date, he also signed off on the Parenting Plan.

One week after Urban, the actress also had the Marital Dissolution Agreement officially notarized and signed the Parenting Plan.

On the same day, a judge approved an order requiring both celebrities to attend a required parenting class, unless they request to be excused, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.

You know, even though she’d officially signed the paperwork, I noticed she was still wearing her engagement ring at the event at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. It was quite a moment, and definitely got people talking! It just goes to show that things aren’t always as straightforward as they seem, even with legal agreements in place. It was certainly a talking point!

The split between the couple made news, with TopMob News reporting that they-who began dating back in 2005-had ended their relationship privately.

The Big Little Lies actress has formally requested a divorce, stating that they separated on the day she filed the paperwork: September 30, 2025.

The couple’s Marital Dissolution Agreement and Parenting Plan were both filed with a Tennessee court on the same day for approval.
