The latest installment in the Ninja Gaiden series, Ninja Gaiden 4, is out now for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and is also available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This is the first main Ninja Gaiden game since 2012’s Ninja Gaiden 3, and it features a new hero named Yakumo who is trying to defeat the Dark Dragon. You can watch the launch trailer below.
You might be wondering, “Wasn’t this dragon already defeated in Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword?” And you’d be right! But in this new story, Yakumo’s goal isn’t just to defeat the dragon – it’s to destroy it completely. She’ll team up with Seori, a Dark Dragon Priestess, to break the dragon’s seals and purify it. Meanwhile, Ryu Hayabusa is back to fight the Raven Clan ninjas and the Divine Dragon Order, as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.
Ninja Gaiden 4 builds on what fans love about the series, bringing back powerful attacks like Ultimate Attacks and moves like the Flying Swallow. It also introduces new features like weapon switching and the Bloodraven Form, which lets you transform your weapons for even more destructive power. You can find a full review on our site – we scored it an eight out of ten, highlighting the excellent combat.
This isn’t the last you’ll see of the game. Team Ninja and PlatinumGames are planning paid downloadable content called The Two Masters, which is scheduled to launch in early 2026. It will include new weapons, story missions, and even more challenging content for dedicated players.
