Nintendo Fixes 5 Games for the Switch 2

It’s well-known that some games originally released for the Nintendo Switch may encounter compatibility issues with the Nintendo Switch 2. However, most games function without problems and often perform better than before. Regrettably, there are a few games that remain unplayable or experience specific troubles on the new system. Fortunately, this list is gradually decreasing. As reported by Nintendo Everything, five additional games have recently been updated, ensuring they run smoothly now on the new system. The complete list of these patched games can be found below:

  • Cotton Reboot High Tension
  • D.C.III: Da Capo III – Plus Story
  • DarkStar One: Nintendo Switch Edition
  • Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless
  • Vagante

Over the past two months, we’ve successfully addressed numerous issues with Switch 1 games, which is quite remarkable given the vast number of games released for this system over the last eight years. However, the potential lack of compatibility could cause annoyance for those who wish to keep playing some of their previous titles on Nintendo Switch 2. Currently, all the standout games run smoothly, so you’re unlikely to encounter problems with games like Splatoon 3 or Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nonetheless, there are many other excellent games that users would like to access, particularly those who have sold their original Switch and wish to continue enjoying them on the new system.

Alongside Nintendo’s own upgrades, some game developers are seizing the opportunity presented by the launch of the Switch 2. For instance, Square Enix has announced a free upgrade for the Dragon Quest III: HD-2D Remake on Switch 2, which enhances the visuals and performance of the original Switch game. Similarly, Sega unveiled that not only will there be a new version of Yakuza Kiwami for Switch 2 this year, but also an upgrade path for the one released last year. With the arrival of Switch 2, many developers now have the chance to boost their games’ performance, including several popular titles that didn’t run as smoothly on PlayStation or Xbox consoles.

With the anticipated price of Nintendo Switch 2, there’s a strong motivation to enhance and update older games. The majority of consumers who shell out $500 for a bundle like “Mario Kart World” or “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” won’t be eager to purchase an entire new collection of games; being able to carry over an existing library is one of the main reasons people buy a new gaming system. Here’s hoping that the list of problematic games will decrease, and more games will be optimized to utilize all that Switch 2 has to offer. For now, we can only anticipate which games will receive repairs in the near future.
