While Resident Evil Requiem is planned for release on the Switch 2 in February 2026, another major Capcom title from about a year prior may also be coming to the console.
A recent update to Monster Hunter Wilds included some new code that suggests Capcom might be developing a version for the Nintendo Switch 2. While Capcom has shown support for the new console, many fans were skeptical because the previous game, Monster Hunter World (released in 2018), never made it to the original Nintendo Switch. One Big Problem Working Against a Switch 2 Port
It’s hard to get excited about Monster Hunter Wilds coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 because the PC version has a lot of technical problems and doesn’t run well. The game is currently unstable and poorly optimized, making its Switch 2 release seem unlikely.
I’m really hoping we see Monster Hunter Wilds on the Switch 2, but I’m also realistic. Capcom would probably have to do a lot of work to get it running well on the new system, which is less powerful than other consoles. We’ve seen developers like Larian with Baldur’s Gate 3 actually improve the game for everyone by optimizing it for weaker hardware, and that would be amazing if it happened here. But honestly, the Switch 2’s processor seems pretty underpowered, so I’m expecting some serious graphical downgrades or a lot of code changes just to make it playable. It’s a bit of a long shot, but a girl can dream!
