Nintendo has released a new update for both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. This follows a similar update released a few weeks ago at the end of November. While the previous update fixed a significant bug that players were reporting, this latest update is even smaller and makes only minor improvements.
A new update, version 21.1.0, is now available for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s a very small update focused on improving the system’s stability and overall user experience. Currently, this is the only change Nintendo has made that players will notice when they turn on their consoles.

Okay, so seeing a tiny update for the Switch and the new Switch 2 might seem weird, but honestly, as a long-time Nintendo player, I’m used to it. Most Switch updates over the years have just been about making the system run smoother – basically, little tweaks under the hood. It’s happened a ton before, and I’m sure it’ll keep happening. It’s just Nintendo keeping things stable, you know?
This update is likely the last Nintendo will release for the Switch and Switch 2 this year. Like most game companies, Nintendo usually pauses updates during the holidays and resumes in January. So, if you’re hoping for a fix to a problem with your Switch or Switch 2, you’ll probably have to wait until 2026.
